14 September 2024 – The Klang River Cleanup Project, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative jointly organised by Putra Business School (PBS), Royal Selangor Yacht Club (RSYC), Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta, PUTRA Student Association and Cuci Malaysia was a success!
With the tagline of “Unite to Clean, Flow to Green,” the project was organised in line with PBS’ strategic plan to nurture environmental stewardship and social responsibility by not only reduce the amount of trash polluting the river but most importantly raise public awareness of the pollution.
The Klang River Cleanup Project was joined by His Highness the Crown Prince of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, who is also PBS’ Chancellor. Volunteers for the project included PBS students, alumni and staff along with its President & Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dr. Azmawani Abd Rahman and RSYC Commodore, Mr. Ramasamy Menon.
The project involved two areas which were the waterway itself and the riversides near Kampung Delek Kiri. Volunteers were divided into two teams to either clean the trash floating in the water via river boats, or on land. The Klang River Cleanup Project is a kick start to many other conservation projects by PBS in the future, with the hope that coming generations will benefit from a cleaner, healthier Malaysia.
PBS is greateful to Harta Maintenance Sdn Bhd, BinaTuah Capital Berhad, Angkasa Khas Berhad, 3 Days Nasi Lemak, Linaco Group of Companies, VG Offshore Containers International (M) Sdn Bhd for their invaluable sponsorship and support by joining in the cleanup as well.
Thank you as well to all participants, partners and supporters for their effort and dedication to make this project a success. Let’s work together to protect our environment for future generations.
