20 September 2025 – Putra Business School (PBS) successfully carried out its latest environmental initiative, “EcoLegacy: Trees for Tomorrow”, at Hutan Simpan Ayer Hitam, Puchong. The programme was officiated by His Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Crown Prince of Selangor and Chancellor of PBS, and brought together students, alumni, staff, and partners in a shared commitment to nurture the environment.
Co-organised with Mega Fortris Berhad and Coffex Coffee (M) Sdn Bhd, and supported by strategic partners, the Selangor Forestry Department, the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, UPM, and the Selangor Youth Community, the programme aimed to promote environmental stewardship, foster community involvement in sustainability, support Selangor’s reforestation and conservation efforts, and provide participants with a meaningful, hands-on ecological experience.
Distinguished guests included YDM Dato’ Syed Haizam Hishamuddin Putra Jamalullail, Chairman of Yayasan Putra Business School; Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM); Prof. Dr. Azmawani Abd Rahman, President & Chief Executive Officer of PBS; Datuk Adrian Ng, Group Managing Director & Group Chief Executive Officer of Mega Fortris; Mr. Kevin Ngow, CEO of Coffex Coffee Roasters; Mr. Azhar bin Ahmad, Director of the Selangor State Forest Department; Mr. Aiman Syafiq, CEO of the Selangor Youth Community; and Prof. Dr. Azlizam Aziz, Dean of UPM’s Faculty of Forestry and Environment.
This first phase saw the planting of 150 trees as part of PBS’s larger commitment to 500 trees, contributing to Malaysia’s 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign (2021–2025). In addition, participants engaged in enriching side activities, including a DIY Terrarium Workshop, a tree-climbing demonstration, and educational booths, all designed to raise awareness of biodiversity and conservation practices.
Reflecting on the programme, Prof. Dr. Azmawani shared that the initiative was not just about planting trees, but about planting values and instilling a spirit of collective responsibility in caring for the environment and leaving behind a meaningful legacy for future generations.
PBS extends its heartfelt appreciation to all participants, partners, and supporters for their dedication in making EcoLegacy: Trees for Tomorrow a success.
