Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL.A)

What is APEL.A?

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Access (APEL.A) is defined as a systematic process that involves the identification, documentation, and assessment of prior experiential learning, i.e., knowledge, skills and attitudes, for admission/access into a programme of study under the various Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) Levels.

Apel.A provides opportunities for individuals with work experience but lacking or without academic qualifications to pursue studies in Higher Education Institutions.

Application Requirements

  1. Open to Malaysian citizens and non-citizens;
  2. Aged at least 30 years in the year of application for admission to Master’s Degree (by Coursework, Mixed Mode and Fully Research-based), Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate programmes (APEL Level 7);
  3. Possess at least an STPM/Diploma/equivalent qualification** (or those with higher qualifications, e.g., Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma),
  4. Possess relevant work experience,
  5. Master’s Degree application (APEL Level 7) needs to be screened for eligibility at the APEL Assessment Centre first. If the applicant’s eligibility screening is rejected at the APEL Assessment Centre level, the applicant may submit an appeal to MQA.
