Why Putra Business School?

So why would you like to do your degree at Putra Business School (PBS)? Isn’t it just like another business school? Don’t all business schools teach the same subjects?

Let’s answer these questions in reverse order.

AACSB Accreditation

With a vision of becoming a leading business school in the country, PBS has achieved several strengths in postgraduate business education which includes world-class international accreditation by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).

Industry-Driven Programmes

In addition to its AACSB accreditation, PBS is accredited by ABEST21 (The Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow, a 21st Century Organization). All our programmes are also endorsed by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.

These acknowledgements attest to the exceptional quality of our MBA, MSc, and PhD courses, each designed with the utmost precision and forethought. While PBS’ research-based MSc and PhD curricula shape ethical, society-minded, and innovative researchers, our MBA programme develops human leaders equipped with the knowledge and values necessary to disrupt and revolutionise the industry. As a further testament to our commitment to excellence, we are devoted to creating and sustaining valuable liaisons with some of the top corporate institutions in the world.

For example, all our MBA graduates are awarded membership by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), a British professional institution that is the only chartered professional body for management and the only organisation able to award the Chartered Manager status. PBS also has strategic collaborations with the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), the Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM), the International Supply Chain Education Alliance Malaysia (ISCEA MY), the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM), and the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA).

Our industry linkages extend to individuals as well, as PBS welcomes industry champions to our classrooms to share their colossal pool of knowledge and experience with students. This initiative, called PBS Professor of Practice, grants our students the opportunity to learn from the likes of industry giants such as Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Datuk Dr. Hafsah Hashim, Founder of the Women Leadership Foundation; Dato’ Seri Rosman Mohamed, Board of Director of Boustead Holdings; and Dato’ Kamarul A Mohamed, Founder & Group CEO, Aerodyne.

Human Governance

In response to the myriad ethical and financial scandals transpiring in today’s corporate entities, PBS is determined to produce business leaders with integrity, humanity, and a transformed paradigm of business. Towards this end, PBS is among the first, if not the first, to champion the concept of Human Governance in its curricula. Built on the foundation that business is fundamentally a human enterprise, PBS believes that the core purpose of business is to facilitate the betterment of society, not to maximise profitability. Business leaders, therefore, need to understand their responsibilities within the realm of their societies in the process of being enterprising and entrepreneurial. In PBS, students are encouraged to use their hearts and their moral compasses along with their minds in decision-making. We want students to question what it means to be human and to redefine humans’ roles in business. To put it (somewhat) simply, PBS is a business school that teaches humans the business of being human in business.
