Assalamu’alaikum wbt and Greetings!
As we welcome 2025, it is with immense pride that I reflect on the progress we have made together at Putra Business School (PBS) over the past year. The unwavering support from our partners, faculty, staff, and students has once again propelled us to new heights in 2024, reinforcing our status as a premier institution for business education in Asia.
I am delighted to share that PBS continues to excel on both national and international fronts. This year, our MBA programme was once again ranked as the top MBA in Malaysia by the 2025 QS Global MBA Rankings, advancing to 23rd place in Asia and placing within the top 40% of MBA programmes worldwide. These accolades not only highlight the academic quality of our curriculum but affirm our reputation for developing visionary business leaders who can navigate the complexities of today’s global economy.
As a leading postgraduate business school accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), ABEST21, and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), our coursework-based MBA offers six specialisations, each including up to three certificates from renowned industry partners: Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), the Institute of Marketing Malaysia (IMM), The International Supply Chain Education Alliance Malaysia (ISCEA MY), The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA), and the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM). The expansion of our MBA into online mode, via the MBA Open and Distance Learning Mode Programme, has received overwhelmingly positive response as well. Complementing this, our rigorous MSc and PhD research programmes offer four specialisations that encompass key areas of business scholarship. In 2024, we took significant steps to broaden our international presence and academic influence, forging partnerships with leading institutions such as the Enforcement, Leadership, and Management University (ELMU) and Sasin School of Management Thailand. Our top management made a strategic visit to Jordan, engaging with the country’s premier universities to explore potential partnerships. Our list of international partners continues to grow as well, including Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Pakistan, AIMS Business School India, Sasin School of Management Thailand, NUCB Business School Japan, Bandung Institute of Technology Indonesia, and many more. We were also delighted to host academic delegations from Indonesia, India, and China for various intervarsity student engagement programmes throughout the year. PBS welcomed a cohort of international MBA students from China as well, in addition to post-doctoral researchers and micro-credential course participants. Outstandingly, our industry-relevant executive development programmes exceeded expectations, with increasing participation from both the public and private sectors. These achievements are indeed a reflection of our expanding impact on business education, research, and professional development.
Our 2024 convocation ceremony was a momentous event, bringing together graduates, their families, and our distinguished guests in celebration of the hard work of our students. We were honoured by the presence of our Chancellor, His Highness the Raja Muda Selangor, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj, who unveiled our new logo and continues to be a strong advocate for our mission. Notably, PBS was privileged to organise the Klang River Cleanup Project with the Royal Selangor Yacht Club, which was graced by His Highness’ presence. We look forward to launching more CSR initiatives in 2025 for environmental sustainability and community well-being.
At PBS, we believe in a foundation of teamwork and shared values. The PBS Staff Retreat 2024 was a key event that brought us together to evaluate our progress, appreciate one another’s contributions, and develop strategic goals for the future. These discussions have already resulted in innovative ideas that we will bring to fruition in 2025. It was also a great pleasure to welcome brilliant new members to our academic and administrative teams this year, adding fresh insights and high-calibre talent to the PBS family. Furthermore, the Putra Student Association (PSA) has enriched our campus life with a dynamic range of activities, including industry sharing sessions, site visits, and the ConnectED Series Networking Day 2024, themed “Synergy in Finance.” The dedication of our staff and students to building an engaging community is commendable, and I wish them all the best as they continue to flourish in 2025.
Looking forward to 2025, we are set to pursue our upward trajectory guided by the PBS Five-Year Strategic Plan 2023-2027. In line with the Madani Economy Framework and Malaysia’s commitment to ESG practices, we will prioritise sustainability, inclusivity, and human governance in all our endeavours. Apart from enhancing our academic offerings and research output to meet the highest international standards, strategic collaborations with industry partners will remain a cornerstone of our approach. Overall, I am confident that PBS will go on to reach greater heights in 2025.
As we close the chapter on 2024, I would like to extend my appreciation to the members of the Yayasan Putra Business School Board of Directors, the Board of Governors, the University Management Committee, our faculty, staff, students, partners, and associates. It is your participation, dedication, and shared passion for excellence that drive our continued success. May 2025 bring new opportunities, triumphs, and experiences for all of us.
Thank you, and I wish you a prosperous New Year!
