Status and Relationship Between Putra Business School and Universiti Putra Malaysia

An autonomous business school with full-fledged university status was established on 12 October 2012 under the name of Putra Business School (PBS). PBS offers business and management related programmes, i.e. Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science, and Master’s in Business Administration. PBS and UPM were the first education entities in Malaysia accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) in 2012. UPM is closely linked to PBS through the following governance structures:

1. The Vice Chancellor and the Deputy Vice Chancellor of UPM are two members of Yayasan Putra Business School (YPBS).
2. The Vice Chancellor of UPM chairs PBS’ Board of Governors (BOG).
3. UPM’s Vice Chancellor, UPM’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), and one representative from UPM’s Board of Directors (BOD) sit on YPBS’ Board of Directors (BOD).
4. The representative from UPM’s BOD chairs YPBS’ BOD.

Upon graduation, PBS students receive a certificate in the format shown above. The embedded Universiti Putra Malaysia logo reflects the fraternal relationship between Universiti Putra Malaysia and Putra Business School.
