YBhg. Academician Emeritus Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Syed Jalaludin Syed Salim
Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Syed Jalaludin Syed Salim is an academician and industry expert with a formidable background which spans over 5 decades in both research and higher education sectors in Malaysia.
His first academic career began in 1969, as an Assistant Lecturer for Universiti Malaya (UM). He has since contributed in numerous other positions, among which is the Dean of UM’s Faculty of Agriculture. Prior to his position as Vice Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1994, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Syed Jalaludin has served UPM as the Head of the Animal Science Department, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science and Deputy Vice Chancellor. He was also Chairman of University Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR), and Chairman of Asia E University. Currently, he serves as Pro Chancellor of UPM and Chancellor of Taylor’s University.
A distinguished industry figure, some of Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Syed Jalaludin’s contributions were as Chairman of Bank Rakyat, Malaysia, Chairman of the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), and member of the Governing Council of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance.
He has received many accolades and awards, among which are the National Academician by the National Science Laureate, Malaysia, Emeritus Professor by the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and UPM, Panglima Setia Mahkota (P.S.M.) by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong, Johan Setia Mahkota by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong, Darjah Dato’ Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (D.S.S.A.) by DYMM Sultan of Selangor and Darjah Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Perlis (D.P.M.P.) by DYMM Raja Perlis.
