The MBA programme at Putra Business School (PBS) is designed to equip students with the ability to effectively and efficiently manage people and ideas, as well as to train them to think strategically to move their organisations forward in the current rapidly changing and challenging environment.

Students in the MBA programme can specialise in any one of the following:

• Finance
• Marketing
• Human Resource Management
• International Business
• General Management
• Corporate Governance in collaboration with MAICSA*

* MBA graduates with the Corporate Governance specialization will also become graduate
members of MAICSA (Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators),
subject to term and condition.

DURATION OF STUDY
Students with full-time status are required to register for at least 9 credit hours per trimester, and can complete the programme in 4 to 6 trimesters. Students with part-time status must register for at least 6 credit hours per trimester, and they can complete the programme in 6 to 8 trimesters.

STUDENT INTAKES
There are three intakes of students; in September (first trimester), January (second trimester) and May (third trimester) of each academic year.

CLASSES
Morning Classes:
Classes are held during office hours (9.00 am – 12.00 pm or 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm) on weekdays.

Evening Classes:
Classes are held during the evenings (6.30 pm – 9.30 pm) on weekdays.

The structure of the MBA programme is as follows:

12 core courses (3 credit hours per course) 36 credit hours
4 elective courses (in the area of specialisation) 12 credit hours
TOTAL 48 credit hours

• Business Research Method or Case Writing and Analysis
• Project Paper or Case Study

* Students who register for the Strategic Management course are required to undertake the experiential component called ‘PUTRA Corporate Strategy Simulation’ as part of their course requirements with a nominal fee of RM300.

ELECTIVE COURSE (12 credit hours)
• Students are required to register for the 2 core elective courses as stipulated by the School in each area of specialisation and choose the other 2 courses from the list of electives offered under their respective areas of specialisation.
• Students who are taking General Management may choose their four elective courses with one from each area of specialisation.
• Students who are specializing in Corporate Governance are required to register for the four (4) core elective courses specified under that area of specialisation.

The Case Study or the Project Paper is completed in two stages:
• Complete the Business Research Methods course or Case Writing and Analysis course in the trimester prior to writing the Case Study or the Project Paper.
• Complete and submit the Case Study or the Project Paper.
